Docks & Bins

Ryan & Robert completed the renovation of a float dock for the island's skiff this week.

The skiff needed to be kept out of the water  to extend its life because of corrosion problems in Morgan Creek at the Dewees IOP Marina. Kim was able to get an old float dock donated to us from Dragon Boat Charleston. The guys worked with an island resident who traded parts of his salvaged float dock to help us complete the renovation of our dock.

As part of our beautification campaign Terry & Randy rebuilt the recycle and trash container that's located at the Isle of Palms Dewees Marina.

Dewees Staff do a great job at what ever they do and are always thinking of cost saving ways to be more efficient.

Thank You to Bobby Kennedy who helped make our dock project successful this week.

POA Spring Cleaning in September

Dewees Staff have been going through the POA and Utility storage areas during the past weeks reorganizing them.

As a result of this effort we have the below pictured golf carts that no one will take responsibility for. The POA will be disposing of these carts next week.

If you wish to lay claim to one of them please contact me on Monday.

We also have an abundance of old Aggie Grey boat seats. They are available for members at no cost, just make arrangements with me to pick one or several up.

The POA has already selected what it needs for the environmental trailer.

Have a neat weekend.

All the Best ,

Kim

Ferries & Rescue

Thanks

Dewees Island Public Safety

&

Volunteers

A young man went missing while swimming off Dewees front beach yesterday.
A full-fledged search and rescue mission was activated which included the Coast Guard, Isle of Palms Fire Department ,Dewees Island Public Safety and Island Resident volunteers. After several hours of active searching the man was located alive and well on Isle of Palms. He'd swum the front beach of Dewees as well as Dewees Inlet to the Isle of Palms. He was very fortunate that he didn't drown as this is a dangerous activity.
Kevin Cordell led the search and rescue effort for Dewees Island Public Safety Department.

Dewees Islander Generator Repair

We have had a problem with the boat's generator quitting unexpectedly.

Kevin Cordell , Dewees Island Public Safety firemen and mechanic and
Tripp Hannah seem to have isolated the insidious problem for us on Sunday.
The generator has been running every day this week with out a hitch.
