Dewees Week in Review

 SAVING ON BARGE COSTS

We needed an extra trash dumpster on the Island this morning so our  ingenious staff figured out a way to bring an empty dumpster to the island on the POA skiff.
We saved the small barge cost which we need to use when we are changing out full trash and recycling dumpsters  for empties.

RIP-RAP RICE TRUNK

Lori ,Ryan and Robert installed rip-rap at the rice trunk wing wall yesterday to prevent erosion. This project was planned once we understood what the erosion patterns would be .

DEWEES PUBLIC SAFETY & OWNER PARTICIPATES IN RESCUE

Dewees owner Todd Hoover & Dewees fireman Richie participated in assisting the IOP Fire Department in rescuing an injured jet ski person last Friday.

Dewees Public Safety also had two other medical emergency evacuations this week. Monday a cut toe requiring 5 stitches and Tuesday a shellfish anaphylactic shock.

Dewees Roads

I know road conditions are of great concern  to all.
Fortunately it looks like we have several days of good weather. We need at least three days of dry weather before grading conditions are best. We are starting a little early, but we are grading today and will continue to do so through the end of the week as necessary.

The staff and I  have strategized daily on ways of improving the  state of our roads during this rainy time.We have tried repeatedly to get them in good shape, but each time our work is ruined by the rains. We grade and soon after it rains before our work has a chance to compact, turning the roads to pot holes and mud.Be assured we will continue to work on the roads while conditions are favorable until they are the best  we can get them considering our resources.
